Sharon Hits the US

After a seven-year absence from the US concert tour circuit, Megastar Sharon Cuneta once again hits the road this May and June.

Because her loyal Sharonians abroad miss her so, this tour is guaranteed to be the hottest ticket in town—making it the most anticipated Filipino show in years (as was proven by the number of inquiries the concert tours have been getting online).

The last time the Megastar performed in the US was in 1996, 1997, and 1998 for her grand world tour—which broke house records in Atlantic City, Reno, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, as well as Winnipeg and Vancouver in Canada and London in England.

This year, Sharon will initially bring her Mega Concert Tour 2005 to six key US cities: Jacksonville, Florida; NewYork/Atlantic City; Reno, Nevada; San Diego and Los Angeles, California.

Show dates and venues are the following: The Florida show will be at the Moran Performing Arts Theater on May 8 at 6 pm; the Chicago show, the Rosemont Theater on May 14, 8 pm; the New York/Atlantic City show, at the Mark Etess Arena, Trump Taj Mahal, May 22, 3 pm; the Reno show, the Reno Events Center, May 29, 8pm; the San Diego show, Starlight Theater, Pala Casino Resort & Spa, June 5, 6 pm; and the Los Angeles show, the Shrine Auditorium, June 11, 8 pm.

Sharon was the first Filipino artist to break SRO records at both the Shrine Auditorium and the MGM Grand Garden Arena—so much so that her poster was on display in both venues’ Hall of Fame, alongside that of Barbra Streisand’s (at the MGM Grand) and Sheena Easton’s and Michael Jackson’s (at the Shrine).

Sharon’s special guests in all of the show dates and cities are two of the most gifted male singers in the scene today: hitmaker Ogie Alcasid and “Miss Saigon” veteran Robert Seña. The two have both worked previously with Sharon: Robert guested in the Cebu edition of the Mega Event in 2002 and Ogie composed all of the songs in Sharon’s latest BMG CD, Sharon Sings Alcasid.
